High School Tennis Team, lettered.   Played through 1980 with friends.  Took tennis up again in 2014.

Varsity Soccer, University of Chicago 1970-1972,
.       Junior Varsity Letter 1970 and Varsity Letters 1971, 1972

Skiing,  downhill since age 8,  backcountry since age 24
.     Grew up family skiing in Illinois, Wisconsin, Michigan, and Colorado
.     College ski weeks:  Aspen, Snowmass, Arapahoe, Winter Park, Vail, Breckenridge,  Copper, Steamboat, Sun Valley,  Taos.
.   Teach skiing at Fayston Winter Sports program
.    have 25 acres of woods to ski on skinny skis, and three ski areas in town

.      Annual extended family spring ski trip to Colorado- siblings, wives, kids

Swimming– pool in yard as kid,
.    Scout Camp Aquatics Staff,
.     taught Red Cross swimming 1986-1992 with Warren Recreation Committee,

.     and for Warren and Fayston Schools as needed.
.    Taught  Scouts Lifesaving and Swimming merit badges again in 2015.

diving trips with my father  in Lake Michigan, Florida, and Cayman Islands.

Windsurfing since 1981, now only occasional

Softball– played field in  grad school, later in wife’s recreation league for four summers.

Canoeing
taught canoeing on Scout Camp staff,
hand-built a wooden “Kayacht”, and paddled it at lake and in Mad River Triathlon
Canoe trips with Scouts in Wisconsin and Michigan (Troop 599, 1980s), and Winooski (Troop 700, 1992)
We use canoe for daily transportation at our island cabin every summer.

Bicycling-
. daily year-round commuting in downtown Chicago, 1973-1986
Boy Scouts as Scoutmaster or Assistant SM
.      Numerous weekend bike hikes or camping trips to Indiana
.      Bike trips from Chicago to Owassippe (240 miles) and home with Troop 599.
.         and UP Michigan, Canada, and Wisconsin bike camping trip- 1984  (450 miles)
1972 Solo tour around Lakes Michigan and Huron, 1400 miles in 14 days,
.        (To get in shape for University of Chicago Varsity Soccer team)
1973-  Chicago to Cleveland, in four days,
.            then solo Cleveland to Chicago, 400 miles in 48 hours
1976- Bikecentennial-  Trip Leader, 1000 miles,  three weeks,
1976- Bike/hostel trip in Sussex, England with Ellen, to Salisbury and back
.             built up my first Custom Bob Jackson Touring frame
1978-  Bikecentennial- Trip Leader, 600 miles, two weeks
Author of chapter in Bicycle Commuting titled “How to Avoid Bike Muggers.”
1982- Ordered a custom Bob Barrett (Angola NY) side-by-side tandem for pleasure and teaching
1990- “Ironman” in Sugarbush Triathlon-run, paddle, bike, ski (yes- four events!)
2015-  Built up an unused 1985 Bob Jackson touring frame
